Issue

Of Harf Beit Hassna’s 389 households, 173 don’t receive government-supplied water and 216 receive water at a significantly lower quantity than the WHO’s recommended daily standard of 60L per person. With no municipal authority and an under-resourced water authority, residents in one of the poorest regions in Lebanon must resort to expensive water trucking or unhygienic water reuse practices.

Current Activities

Gathering water quality information from the local government authorities and water establishment, conducting hydro-geological assessments of groundwater availability, mapping current water provision to the 389 households, and exploring different ways of increasing water supply.
