Issue

Because of the fuel and diesel shortages, Baalechmay lacks the necessary electricity to pump water from its wells to supply its two water reservoirs, one of which was partially ruined during the Lebanese Civil War. Other local water sources are also rendered futile due to electricity cuts, and water distribution is becoming increasingly unequal due to unfair rerouting on the network.

Current Activites

Exploring alternative energy sources to power an existing water pump, investigating ways to increase water storage capacity due to the damage wrought by the civil war onto existing infrastructure, mapping the current water network as well as household-level water usage, testing water quality at springs, groundwater sources, and households and exploring other potential sources for water.
